What is the Flu?
Influenza is more commonly called the flu, is an acute viral infection in the upper respiratory tract. The difference between the common cold, and the flu are that a cold is usually restricted to the chest, neck and head, and come on slow. While the flu on the other hand strikes fast, and causes symptoms all over the body.
Who Gets the Flu?
There are three classifications for the influenza virus, A, B, and C. A, is the most common virus, which usually occurs in the late fall r early winter. School children account for the highest population who get the flu. This is because of the highly contaminated areas at school which the children come in contact with.
What are the Symptoms of the Flu?
Symptoms of the flu usually appear within forty eight hours after exposure to the virus. The most common symptoms are; sore throat, dry cough, fever, muscle, and joint aches, fatigue, and weakness. Less common symptoms are; sneezing, runny nose, insomnia, swollen glands in the neck, and depression.
What are the Root Causes of the Flu?
If your immune system is taxed you are more likely to get the flu. This would be caused by a number of factor such as; stress, a poor diet, lack of sleep, or another illness. Contact with the influenza virus is the cause of the flu.
Natural Remedies.
Even if you have lost your appetite, you want to do your best to keep eating. It is a good idea to stick to soups, and give your body a break from digestion. Eat as much fruit, and vegetables as possible.
Increase your consumption of garlic, ginger, and onions. Sip on hot water with lemon, cinnamon, and honey. Avoid sugary, refined products, as these foods tax your immune system for hours after you consume them.

What is Shingles?
Shingles is a condition which is usually painful, that is caused by the herpes zoster virus. This virus is the same virus that causes chickenpox.
